Saturday Sketch

It's Saturday and boy are we glad the weekend is here. I got to stamp with my Mom yesterday while the kiddos were napping and I have 2 creations from myself and one from my Mom to share with you. These are all using Lauren Meader's Saturday sketch. The first is my first time using Pink Cat's Studio's new set Lily and Billy Sweathearts. This card took me a lot longer to make than most of my cards. It has a ton of "bling". I just love this set! Aren't Lily and Billy too cute!
Here is my Mom's card. She used her new cupcake set from Maya Road that she got for her birthday last weekend. The paper is from Papertrey, Rasberry Fiz. She added some bling too to both of the hearts on the side and to the cupcake heart topper!
Last but not least! I love my new SU set called Cheers to You. I paired it with Pinch Proof, also from SU. I've been wanting this set for a while now. My husband and I are both engineers and where we went to school in Rolla, MO, St. Patrick's Day was a HUGE party. They painted the streets green, served green beer, had a St. Pat's Board, and the list goes on and on. St. Patrick is the patron saint of Engineers so that is how this tradition started. I love St. Patrick day cards. Can you see the green beer in the mug? One time my husband and I went to this bar during St. Pats (we got 2 days off of college for this holiday!) and we brought our own food coloring because we didn't think this bar would have any. Needless to say, we got a new beer since we dumped almost the whole thing of food coloring in it! Here's my first St. Pat's card for the year! CHEERS TO YOU!

Be sure to check out the other gals cards too. Thanks for stopping by!

T.G.I.F.

THANK GOD IT'S FRIDAY! I think all my posts start with "What a week it has been!" and this one is no exception. It's been crazy with Ethan going to the hospital to see if he was eligible for his next treatment, a surprise stay in St. Louis due to the weather and his new med schedule, coming home to Ava being very sick, back to the doctor with Ava to find out she has RSV, and trying to keep a 4 and 2 year old separated for the last 2 days! It's been exhausting and we are ready to be back to normal....or at least our "normal". Ava is better, but still has her cough, but her runny nose is a ton better. Ethan is still full of energy and is taking his medicine like a champ!
Here's a birthday card that I made last weekend for my sister-in-law's birthday. I actually cased the layout from one of my stamp club members. She'll be so excited that I used her card to case. She gave this to me for my birthday all in green tones. I would take a picture, but Ava got ahold of it one night when we ate spaghetti and well, it doesn't look quite the same as when I first received it! This if the set Flight of the Butterfly from SU. It's a great set.

Thanks for stopping by. I have 3.....yep 3 cards to show you tomorrow for Lauren's sketch. Two from myself and one from my Mom. We worked hard during naptime to get these finished!

Have a great Friday!

Can't Sleep!

It's in the wee hours of the morning, but I'm in the hotel and I can't sleep, I don't have my stamps with me and I have to stay quiet in the dark! So why not blog!!! I don't have any eye candy to share, but I'm sure all of you understand with what we have going on. We did have a bit of good news today with our son, actually more than a bit. Ethan is starting a new drug tomorrow morning. This is definitely an answer to ours and so many others prayers. We spent the night here due to the weather and the fact that it saved us from 6 hours of driving time to head home and back. Ethan is doing great. He and my DSH are sound asleep right now. I should be too! Hopefully we'll be heading for home sometime tomorrow afternoon. St. Louis got another 4-5 inches of snow last night and the roads were pretty yucky. We are only staying a couple miles from the hospital, so we don't have far to commute in the morning!

I've been enjoying the sneek peeks from CHA. Looks like some more fun stuff this year! Yesterday I took Ethan to a movie for something fun to do. I took him to see Paul Blart, Mall Cop. I guess this is rated PG and looked pretty funny on the previews, but he got scared half way through so we left! Oh well, he really enjoyed the popcorn! I brought in some sodas for Ethan and me to have and I put his in my purse when we left half way through, not knowing what was in store with that. While walking down the mall, Ethan was trying to tell me something, but I couldn't hear him. I bent down and it sounded like he was peeing, well, he wasn't, but he thought I was peeing! To our amazement, neither of us were peeing, but the rootbeer cap wasn't all the way on and so I poured it all over the inside of my purse and onto the mall floor! What a mess! I cleaned up what I could and let someone know about our mess!

Ethan got some good deals on some button shirts as he calls them. He likes to wear button up collared shirts, except he is in the phase right now where he always wants to dress like Daddy! Pretty funny huh?? Well, I had 3 shirts picked out for him and asked Ethan if he liked them, he would then look at his Daddy and say "Daddy, do you have a shirt like that?" If Daddy said yes, then Ethan liked the shirt, if he said no then we didn't get it! How long is this phase going to last?? Ava didn't get left out. She got some cute things too and on sale! I got her 3 shirts at Baby Gap for under $15! My friend Heidi will be so proud!

I better get off of this thing and get a few more zzzz's. We have to be back at the hospital around 9:00 or so. We are praying that all goes well with Ethan's new meds tomorrow. I'm definitely ready to be home and Ethan is too. We miss our little Chicky. Ava and Ethan have a cold and are taking antibiotics, so Ava is a little more clingy than usual. She didn't like it when I told her on the phone that we weren't coming home last night. She'll be glad to see us tomorrow.

Hopefully I'll be back later in the week with a sample or two to share. I have the stuff cut to make the Birthday card holder by Lauren Meader. I used pink pirouette, baja breeze, and close to cocoa for my colors. I really like that combo together! Back to get some zzzzz's.....thanks for stopping by!

Saturday Sketch Time

It's Saturday and I finally got in the mood to stamp a bit. It's been a long week of waiting and we didn't exactly get the news we were waiting for. I'll just send you to Ethan's caring bridge link.....it's easier than telling the story twice. We could still use some extra prayers for our Ethan. We aren't heading to Philadelphia next week, but to St. Louis for one more heart test and some biopsy results. The waiting game isn't any fun at all, the not knowing isn't any fun either, but it is what it is and we are trying to make life go on like there isn't anything wrong at all. So I decided to get up and stamp! I have to have 2 birthday cards for this weekend anyway, so I thought I better get in gear. I'm wanting to make the birthday card box that Lauren has showed recently on her blog so maybe I'll get to that sometime this weekend!
Here's my card for Lauren's sketch. I used elegant eggplant for the first time in a long time. The cupcake is from Maya Road. Isn't it cute.....it's my Mom's for her birthday (shh!!!) She doesn't know she is getting it, but I'm sure she'll read my blog before her birthday tomorrow! I had to try it out and make sure it "worked" okay! It does!!! I made the background paper and added a little ribbon from my stash to finish it off. I had "1" heart button to add at the top and added a little bling with my dazzling diamonds.
Mom's card is really pretty. She actually gave me a recipe this time! The patterned paper is from Basic Grey, Cloud 9 Designs and the cardstock is Mellow Moss from SU. She stamped with Rose Romance, Old Olive, and Mellow Moss and used the Marth Stewart butterfly punch. The sentiment is from SU.
Hope all of you are having a good weekend. We are making the best of ours. We really aren't just sitting around dwelling on Ethan's latest scan reports. It doesn't do us any good to worry. We still don't have any biopsy results from his bone marrow, so we'll just wait on that Monday and see how his heart echo test turns out on Tuesday. We always have something to think about at our house. Thanks for stopping by and for all the nice comments. It helps to know that there are so many people out there thinking and praying for our son!

Waiting and Praying!

We are home.....I know some of you follow this site for my "stamping", but some also follow my son's progress as well. Ethan had several tests/scans today. He had a cat scan, bone marrow biopsies and a MIBG scan. We don't know anything yet, so as my title says, we are "Waiting and Praying!" These tests tell us what our next steps are. Right now we have tickets to head to Philadelphia next week, but that can change in the blink of an eye. Our lives are always subject to change at the last minute. Hopefully we'll know something tomorrow. We just keep praying for good results!

I don't have any cards or scrapbook pages to share. I do have a few pages that I haven't taken any pictures of yet....just haven't had time this week. I did get to stop off at Michaels on the way home this evening and got a new stamp set....it's so cute. I can't wait to play with it. I'm sure I'll be stamping some tomorrow....it definitely helps to keep my mind off of things.

I'll be back on Satuday morning with Lauren's sketch. What do you think of me making scrapbook pages or are you wanting to see more cards? Thanks for stopping by!

Love Ewe!

A very QUICK post as I should be in the shower getting ready for work! This is what we'll be making tomorrow night at stamp club. I actually made a card without ribbon, can you believe it? I think it turned out pretty cute. I have everything cut and ready to go, just in case Ethan has to get platelets today! Ethan is on his way with his Daddy right now for labs.....I'm praying so hard that he has held his own, that would just make my whole year!

Thanks for stopping by. I have some scrapbook pages that I'll share if I have time this week. We have a busy one with scans for Ethan on 2 days. Please keep my little boy in your prayers. We are praying for good news from these scans!

Love You Forever

It's Saturday....THANK GOD! It has been a whirlwind week. Monday we were at the hospital getting my son platelets, Tues and Wed I worked because they needed me to finish up a project before the end of the week, Thursday Ethan needed blood and we didn't get home until after midnight, and yesterday......we were so lazy and stayed home and inside all day! Ava and I did venture out last night and ran a couple errands. It was sure a fast week!

Last night I made a scrapbook page for Lauren's sketch and my Mom made a card. Here's a peak at Lauren's sketch.
Check out the other gal's cards too! LaurenMeader Tamara Harder Maria Levine Dawn Easton Kirsten Dubosque Kristy Vernon Kim Gasper MacKenzieBruckler Kendra Wisenbaker

My Mom went with a cirlce theme throughout. The background is embossed with the cuttlebug and then dobbed. She added some PTI ribbon and then layed her circles. My Mom needs to start doing a write up because I'm really just guessing what she did. I really can't even tell you the colors....I'm helpful aren't I??

Here's my scrapbook page for Lauren's sketch. Now this was very fun to make. I had cut all of these hearts out with my pazzles a few days ago and planned on using them on another scrapbook page, but I took a picture yesterday that I just loved and wanted to scrapbook it right away. The background paper is called Queen of Hearts by Splendid. I LOVE it! I used Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette, and Baja Breeze cardstock from SU. I've found that the Ocean Tides ribbon from PTI matches pretty closely with the Baja Breeze so I've been using that a lot lately. The lace is from Wal-Mart. There are my kiddos yesterday! I put pony tails in Ava's hair for the first time and she loved them. She looks pretty funny though when she takes them out! Hope all of you have a great weekend. We're off for scans next week on Wed/Thursday so we could use some extra prayers for our son! Thanks for stopping by!

A little Valentine Treat!

I've been seeing so many boxes being made and thought I would give it a whirl. I made some heart shaped rice cripy treats the other day out of strawberry marshmallosws and cut out hearts with my heart cookie cutter. I made the box with my Scorpal....it is very easy and if you are interested in how, just leave me a note and I'll explain. The box is 7 x 4 with a 1" lip. I made an insert to go along with it. The box lid is clear. I added some hershey kisses for some chocolate fans. I stamped the hearts with the Heart Prints set from PTI and then punched them with the heart punch. It can't get any easier than this. I didn't stay up late last night though....I crashed when my head hit the pillow.
............................................................................................
Back to work again tomorrow. Then I'll be off for a few days before the weekend gets here. I wish we didn't have to go anywhere because it is in the single digits outside. We put the horse and burrow away in the barn to keep them a little warmer and we are staying inside where it is warm.
.............................................................................................
I entered this treat box for the PTI Guest Star Stamper contest.....so wish me luck! I got a nice surprise when I got home today, the Stampin' Up! catalogs arrived! I love a lot of the new sets and they have some really neat new ideas.
Hope all of you are having a great week! Thanks for stopping by.

May all your wishes come true!

Pink Cat Studio is hosting a contest until "tomorrow". I have been wanting to play with this fairy for the last week and finally got to sit down to do this while my husband watched 24 and the kiddos. I wanted to make a rainbow so I used my nestability circle templates and drew the partical circles on the paper and then used my cuttlebug to emboss. The sentiment on the cloud I just made in word with a little cloud from my clipart. It says, May all your Wishes come True! I added a lot of bling to the fairy's dress and wings. Isn't this fairy wonderful! Check out the Pink Cat Studio link to see a sneek peak of some of the new stamp sets coming out. I honestly think Melissa has my kids in mind when she creates these. Now if she comes out with a "little donkey" stamp set I will know that for sure! :-)

Today has been very busy on the medical front. We left around 7:00 to get labs, found out around 9:00 that Ethan needed platelets and then headed on our 2 1/2 hour trip to the hospital for a transfusion. We got home a little after 5:00, headed to my nephew's 7th grade basketball game and then came home to get the horse and burrow in the barn for the next few days as we are expecting very cold weather. We are finally in now and getting ready to head up for bed. There's always something going on here at our house and today was definitely no exception. If I have the energy, I'm going to come back down and work on PTI's Guest Stamper challenge. I've had my little valentine treat made for a week now, but haven't gotten it totally finished! I need just a few more hours in the day and a few less trips to the hospital.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great week!

It's the Weekend!

It's Saturday and time for Lauren's Saturday Sketch! We've had a crazy week here at our house. I usually work on Mondays and Tuesdays, but I didn't have anyone to watch my kiddos on Monday, Tuesday Ethan was in the hospital all day, Wednesday we were home and just played catch up on everything, and then I decided to work Thursday and Friday! So, needless to say we are a little tired around here this morning. We all slept in, we didn't go to bed very early either, but it still felt good to sleep in!

My Mom played along this week and actually created the card for this weeks sketch. I asked Lauren about trying out scrapbooking with her sketches, so that is what I did. Here are 2 Valentine day ideas with Lauren's sketch. It's so easy to take a card sketch and use it for a scrapbook page. Ava was so funny last night when I was making this. She was sitting right next to me of course and she got all upset when she found out that I had "broke her". I used my nestabilities on her picture and she thought I broke her, it was really funny. Mom's card uses SU's stamp set, So Many Scallops and I didn't end up stamping at all. I printed my title from Word and added a little glitter. I made my own background paper with the small heart punch from PTI. I added glitter to my hearts for some bling!

Hope all of you are getting a good start to your weekend. We don't have much planned. Hopefully we'll be home all of this weekend and next week, that would be so nice for a change. We did finally find out a schedule for Ethan's upcoming scans, so that is nice to have "somewhat" of a plan. The kids are doing great. They even went upstairs by themselves last night for a half hour and played with a puzzle and they didn't come down screaming or crying at us....now that is amazing.

Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to check out the other gal's cards too.

Welcome Little One! and my Little M&M

My friend, Jen, had her new little baby boy today around 9:30 this morning. I'm a little jealous because it sounds like she had him pretty quickly. My little Ethan....I was in labor for over 18 hours! That was after my husband discovered that the IV drip from my epideral had been dripping on the floor after they put it in! That made for a very fun afternoon!!!

Here is what I came up with. This is an old SU set called Welcome Little One. Isn't the baby just precious. The paper was from my stash and the ribbon is from PTI. I absolutely love this gingham ribbon that they are carrying. I drug out my nestabilities to cut out my main image. It seems like I go in spurts with that and use it a lot and then put it away for a while. I'm really loving this new Martha Stewart lace edge punch.

We had a very full day here at home. I did all the usual stuff and really tried hard to get all of my Christmas decorations put away. I managed to get "almost" everything. The trees are still sitting waiting to go to the basement, but I finally have my house back. After Christmas it always feels so much bigger when I get the decorations put away! I'm off to work tomorrow and Friday. I usually work on Mondays and Tuesdays, but that didn't work out this week. Ethan is pretty bummed that he can't go to school tomorrow. He was going to go, but there is so much flu going around that we decided to keep him home.

Hope all of you have a good Thursday and Friday....I'll be back on Saturday with Lauren's sketch! If this picture doesn't make you laugh....isn't this too cute. Ava came downstairs with this and "only" this on a couple nights ago. She went to the corner where the Christmas tree was with her kitty slippers and was eating Valentine Sweetarts! She's too funny!

Loads of Love

Thought I would share a card with you that I made last year. I know it's "old", but I really liked how it turned out and it's getting closer to Valentine's Day so I thought I would share it with you. This is a great set from SU called Loads of Love. This set is very versatile because you can do so much with it. I'll be back later today...I hope to share a new baby card. My friend is in the hospital right now having her first baby. Hopefully her labor will go quickly.

Yesterday we spent the day at the hospital in the clinic with Ethan. He had to get a stem cell rescue. Basically what this is are stem cells that were harvested back in Sept before he had his MIBG treatment. The doctors were expecting Ethan's counts to drop and that he would possibly need this and he did. So we are now waiting on Ethan to engraft and for his bone marrow to recover so we can proceed with a new drug. It's all so new and scary, but we are praying hard that all works out. You would just be amazed at our son. You honestly can't tell a thing is wrong. He runs around with endless energy, has a full head of curly hair and is just a very imaginative, fun 4 year old. We are so grateful for that. Today we are just very grateful to be home and enjoying some down time.
Check out my list of blogs on the left....I have some new links listed so check them out. I'm going to try to keep on track today and make a couple scrapbook pages. Yesterday I obviously didn't get to do anything, but I'm hopeful I'll get back at it today. Ethan is having a friend over to play so it will be a busy day. Ethan is really excited about getting to play with his friend. Thanks for stopping by!

Always on my mind - forever in my heart.

I saw this card at Lily Bean Paperie and I instantly loved it. So I went to the drawing board and this is what I came up with. I just got this stamp set last month from Stampin' Up! called Stem Sayings and I love it. I got the Martha Stewart Edging punch for Christmas and the heart punch is from PTI, but you can also get this new heart punch from SU in the new catalog! So, I'm excited because I can use this punch at my stamp club too! The lace came from Wal-Mart and I used my cuttlebug to emboss the pink background paper. The colors are Pink Pirouette, Baja Breeze, and Chocolate Chip. The ribbon is from PTI, Ocean Tides Satin. The felt flower is from SU in their Flower Fusion pack of felt flowers...they are so pretty. Hope you enjoy this card as much as I do. I am defnitely going to use this color combo again. Now....I think I have to get to "work" and pick up some stuff and gather more ornaments from the tree!

Last, but definitely not least, here are my kiddos today "posing" for Mommy on the couch. We have been home all day and it is frigid outside, so we've been doing indoor stuff. The kids want to make brownies yet today so I know that is on the agenda for after naps. Hope you are having a good Monday. Thanks for stopping by!

Look Alikes and Four Generations

Here's another scrapbook page to share with you. I used my PTI set, Floral Frenzy, to create the flowers. I took my paper piercer and made the stems. The paper is Pretty in Pink from SU. I took the center of the flower to create a background for my title. The title I cut out from my Pazzles Inspiration.

Here's a closeup of my flowers and title. When I cut the titles out of my Pazzles I like to use my sticker maker by Xyron. It makes adhering these to my pages so easy.

I like to make 2 page layouts, even if my pictures aren't from the same event. This is how I make it work, just put a different title on each page, but coordinate the pages so they go together. This is just how I like to scrapbook, others do just one page layouts, but I like the continuity of how it flows together. I finished up Ava's baptism pages this morning. I'm really trying to stick to my goal. Have a good Monday. I'll be in the hospital tomorrow with Ethan so I might not have time to post anything, but we'll just see how the day goes!

Winter Fun!

Thought I would share one of my favorite scrapbook pages! This is one I made earlier this year with some pictures from last winter. We got such wonderful news about our son towards the end of December last year and it made playing in the snow just that much more fun.

I made my own printed paper with a snowflake stamped randomly with Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery, and Almost Amethyst. The snowflakes were cut out from my Pazzles Inspiration and I added some Bling with dazzling diamonds along the edges. The Snowflake is supposed to say "Snow Much Fun!", but I think I forgot to right it in after I got my Certainly Celery pen. I have some new Snow pictures from a couple weeks ago and I can't wait to scrapbook them too!

Here's a closeup of one of the snowflakes. See the glitter....it adds a ton to the page!

We had so much fun that day building a snowman. We tried to make one this year, but the snow wouldn't pack, so we went sled riding instead. That was so much fun, I even got to join in. Hope you are all having a wonderful Sunday. We have a busy day of getting our house back in order from the holidays. I have laundry to do that probably will only take an hour or so, but it is just the part in getting in gear and getting it done. Then we probably should attempt to take down the tree. I thought we were heading to Philadelphia this week so I had decided to leave it up, but since we're not, I think I'll try getting at least the big tree down today. Well, Ava is here crying.....who knows why, so I better run! Thanks for stopping by!

Scrapbook Time and Picture Organization!

I did it!!! I scrapbooked my first page in 2009.....and boy does it feel good. I know that sounds so funny to some of you, but I've been longing to get in gear and get my scrapbooking finished and I've got a good start. I did a 12x12 2 page layout today and have started on another. I have my pictures all organized and am getting ready to print out the remaining pictures from 2008. I am such a planner and organizer that it's really hard for me to focus on scrapbooking right now with everything we have going on with our son, but I've realized that life will probably never be the calm that I want so I'm taking 2009 with a different stride and trying to just go with the flow and maybe do a few things out of the norm. Here's my page for today. I like to scrapbook in order, but sometimes I do break my rules and just "have" to do a page that I like, but today I kept things in order and started with the next page in Ava's scrapbook. In case you are interested in how I organize my stuff.....here it goes, if you aren't interested, you might want to just skip down to the pictures!

I take a "lot" of pictures, I mean I have well over 100 G of pictures on my harddrive. It's okay because it is my computer (well I guess I share it with my husband and kids too), but noone tells me I can't take that many pictures, so I do! I organize my photos in a folder I create on my harddrive called PICTURES. Then I have folders for the years, 2008, 2009, etc. I then subcategorize these by 1_January_2009. Under each month's folder I have the pictures in a folder by date, for example: 1-3-2009_EthanBarn. This way I can find a picture I am looking for with the heading and the date. Then once I have the pictures in their respective folders, I open them in Microsoft Picture Manager and crop, color balance, red eye, whatever they need and then I save them under a different name. This way when I go to print my pictures, I only print the ones I have named. This is my little system and it may seem a little anal, but that is the engineering side of me! That's pretty much it on my computer system. I use Wal-Mart online to order my prints and once I get them home, I put little sticky tabs on them with the date and then I place them in my 12x12 scarpbooks on the pages that I want to scrapbook them on. I'm so behind with that part.....once Ethan got sick, this went to the back burner.

Why am I telling all of you this....I don't know, just thought some of you out there like to hear of other people's picture filing systems. I always like to hear other people's ideas. The other reason is that this year I am determined to get caught up with my scrapbooks. I "LOVE" to scrapbook and I started doing this back in 1999 while I was on a coop in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. I started out with a co-worker and I was instantly hooked. I didn't add stamping into my work until I began with Stampin' Up! in 2002. That's the history behind it all. More info than you probably cared to know, but there you have it. So in 2009, you'll be seeing a lot more scrapbooking pages on my blog, but

On to my pages: I got this sketch from my new magazine "Scrapbooks Etc. Page Planner 2009" This magazine is $12.95, but in my opinion it is worth every penny. I have gotten so many ideas from it. I just picked mine up at Wal-Mart, but I've seen this at my local grocery store too. I love the magazine Creating Keepsakes too. I have a subscription to that one. Scrapbooks Etc. has a regular magazine as well. Those two are probably my favorites. I think I'm turning into my Mom buying all these magazines.
If you made it this far in my post....you are definitely a true "fan" of my blog. I'll be back tomorrow with another scrapbook page and a new card from my new favorite stamp set "Heart Prints" from PTI. I Love this set and can't wait to use it more! Until tomorrow! Have a great weekend!

Happy New Year and a Sketch to start the Year!

Happy New Year! It's already January 3rd and our year has been full to the brim. We had to go to St. Louis yesterday for platelets for our son, so that was a full day in itself, but my Mom came through with a card for the sketch today. I thought I would make one when I got home last night, but I ended up with an upset stomach......it's always something. The kids are doing good though and we had a wonderful Christmas and New Year. Our trip to Philadelphia got canceled, so we are home for a while longer before we make that trip.....long story that I'll write about sometime. Anyway.....here's a look at Lauren's sketch for the week and my Mom's card. My goal is to make a scrapbook page with the same card layout, so maybe, just maybe I'll get to play today and I'll have a 2nd post, so check back to see later on today!

While Dav'es away......I go to Hobby Lobby!

Dave and the oldest two went to the cold Homecoming football game.  So Em and I decided to eat supper with my parents and make a trip to Hob...
